Ghor province today, just like the rest of Afghanistan, is exhausted, tired of war, barren land, that cannot give any inspiring example of life for its children. Perhaps the liveliest example of Afghan culture is traditional carpets - their national art.
Making a project we considered the local climate, specifical nature, traditions, function, simple construction, future constructions in the plot and probable constructional phasing.
According to the traditional ways of constructing urban fabric, every plot has got a stone fence and the windows of every house are oriented into the inner yard. Traditional solutions evolved this way because of practical and cultural reasons: inner yard protects from burning sun, sand storms, it is much easier to take care of vegetation in small patio than in an open space and so on. Daily centre of children is an intraverted building, providing its visitors with a new quality of life, that is created by them too. Our goal is to give them certain tools, so they can contribute to the creation of the place by adding something, weaving it as the "Afghan carpet of Earth".
